Dated marriage certificate uniting Daniel R. Rutgers and Ann Hoyt. McAuley was an Irish born American radical Presbyterian clergyman who became pastor of the Rutgers Street Church in New York City in 1822. He was a leader in the general assembly at which the old-time adherents took action, resulting in a division of the Church. Founder and first president of the Union Theological Seminary in 1835. In good condition showing some age, two folds, edge wear, expert archival tape repair to reverse sides to reinforce the folds and slight fold tearing.
