Historical 5.5X8 German document awarding Hans Gunter Karn a second class medal, dated Berlin, 5 Mai 1943. Signed in bold fountain pen ink by Joachim von Kortzfleisch. Comes with a vintage unsigned photograph of him. As the commander of the Military District III (Berlin), he played a role in the failure of the attempted coup following the 20 July Plot attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler, which was led by Kortzfleisch’s own distant cousin, Claus von Stauffenberg.
