Historical 6X9 Cuban document from 1899 signed once on the front and once on the verso by Emilio Bacardi. In very good condition. Emilio Bacardi Moreau was a Cuban industrialist, politician, and writer who managed the Bacardi Rum Company and served as the first democratically elected mayor of Santiago. Emilio was the son of Don Facundo Bacardi Massó and his wife Lucía’Amalia’ Victoria Moreau, a woman from a very prosperous family of Franco-Haitian descent. His father was a businessman who in 1862 founded the Bacardi rum company that would grow into today’s international corporation, Bacardi Limited. However, before finding stability in the rum business, Facundo and his young family experienced hardships in Cuba. Upon his return to Santiago de Cuba, Facundo found that his general store was looted and its customers were unable to pay him. Within a few years, he was bankrupt. This is a document containing the signature of Emilio Bacardi in black ink. It is numbered, dated, and stamped authenticating this as an original piece of history. This is a 1901 typewritten document of the opening of a cigar store (Tabaqueria) signed by the Mayor of the City of Santiago, Cuba. Next to the signature to the left is the “seal” of the Mayor, who was at the time Emilio Bacardi. Emilio Bacardi was the son of the founder of Bacardi Rum, Facundo Bacardi. Emilio managed the company himself for many years. Alcoholic drink so well known today. Condition report please view all photos as they form part of the description. There is a small hole form centre top and some edge wear and minor toning to one edge. Has been folded in the past but been stored flat and kept in a sealed bag for several years.
