
He defeated Banastre Tarleton at the Battle of Cowpens in January 1781 forcing Charles Cornwallis to pull his troops out of South Carolina and move them farther north. Tarleton and Cornwallis later surrendered at the Battle of Yorktown in October 1781 putting an end to the war. Morgan, appealing the judgment made in the District Court in Winchester to the next Court of Appeals. Morgan and his three partners lost their lawsuit to cancel a debt they reportedly owed. Countersigned by Robert W. Peacock, contains one page with docketing on the verso, measures 13 by 7.5 inches, created on April 26, 1797 in [Virginia], and in very fine condition with only a small separation to the center fold. MORGAN APPEALS A COURT DECISION IN WHICH HE LOST A LAWSUIT TO CANCEL A DEBT HE REPORTEDLY OWED. Reads in part: Know all men by these presents that we Daniel Morgan, Peter Luke, Robert Baywell, & Robert W.
