Jack Leon Ruby born Jacob Leon Rubenstein [1911 1967] was a Dallas nightclub owner who on November 24, 1963, shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald who was in police custody after being charged with assassinating United States President John F. Ruby was convicted of the murder of Oswald and sentenced to death, but his conviction was later appealed and was granted a new trial. On January 3, 1967, as the date for a new trial was approaching, Ruby became ill in his prison cell and died of a pulmonary embolism from lung cancer. In 1964, the Warren Commission concluded that Ruby acted alone in Killing Oswald and was not part of a organized crime underworld plot surrounding the assassination of President John F. The document is typed on the letterhead of Jack Ruby Associates and is dated 8th July 1959, the state of Texas, County of Dallas. The document is an agreement between Jack Ruby and ironically a gentleman named Buddy Kennedy. Mounted below the photograph is a professionally engraved metal plaque which reads as follows,”Jacob Leon Rubenstein”Jack Ruby” March 23, 1911 – January 3, 1967. Sunday, November 24, after driving into town and sending a check to one of his employees, Ruby walked to a nearby police headquarters and made his way to the basement. 38 revolver into Oswald’s abdomen, fatally wounding him. The shooting was broadcast live nationally and millions of television views witnessed it.
